Jason Reynolds writes fiction and poetry for young readers. Father, Father is his first adult novel, following two brothers on a journey after their father’s death.
After their father dies, two brothers set out from Maryland for Iowa with very different memories of the man they have lost. Jesus drives professionally; Second, decades younger, needs to reach his college violin recital. The journey forces a conversation neither can easily avoid. Reynolds’s first adult novel explores how siblings can inherit the same family and understand it in profoundly different ways.
