Why it is on our radar

Penner returns to The Lost Apothecary through an adult Eliza and a second investigation across two periods. The link to the earlier novel is explicit, while the elixir creates a new conflict over memory, motherhood and control.

About the book

In 1802 London, Eliza Fanning runs a potion shop and possesses an elixir that can alter fate. When her children are kidnapped, surrendering it becomes the price of rescue. In the present, an archivist follows an old letter toward the same substance and the truth behind a childhood tragedy.
