Why it is on our radar
Lichtman narrows the timescale to explore a broad moral problem: what people owe one another when their lives intersect. Readers of Calling Ukraine get another novel balancing uncomfortable consequences with a searching, sometimes comic perspective.
About the book
A chance encounter during a single spring day sets several lives on a collision course. As the consequences spread, the people involved face questions about their motives, responsibility to others and the distance between intending to do good and accepting what their actions have caused.
