The edition guide

A closer look.

Violet Sorrengail expected a life among books. Instead, she is sent into a military college where earning a dragon’s bond means surviving rivals, punishing training and a system with little room for weakness. Rebecca Yarros adapts the opening half of her novel, while Anabel Rossi’s full-colour artwork gives Basgiath, its cadets and its dragons a visual form.

Why return to this book?

For returning readers, the interest lies in seeing familiar people and places through a visual interpretation. New readers should know that this is an adult fantasy-romance adaptation and the first part of a divided story.

About the original work

Rebecca Yarros’s Fourth Wing was first published in 2023. This 2027 graphic adaptation revisits the opening part of Violet Sorrengail’s story, with Yarros adapting her own novel and Anabel Rossi illustrating it.

Choose a cover, not extra story

The US standard and retailer-exclusive versions contain the same adaptation. Target, Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million/Indigo offer different covers; Walmart pairs the standard cover with an exclusive bookmark.

Check the deluxe edition’s market

The US and Canadian deluxe hardcover is signed and includes a slipcase and art print. The UK Piatkus deluxe hardcover has its own ISBN and is explicitly unsigned. Check the edition details before choosing a copy.
